COURSE DESCRIPTION & EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

A 2-hour live, Zoom-based CE course focused on the legal and ethical requirements of mandated reporting. This course will address key topics, including child abuse, dependent adult abuse, elder abuse, and the "duty to warn."

Course is designed to be engaging, educational, fun and informative.

 

Course will include presentations, video clips, case examples and Q & A sections designed to enhance understanding and application of these critical responsibilities. The course aims to keep participants engaged as well as to equip providers with the knowledge and confidence to accurately identify and respond to mandated reporting requirements in a professional and legally compliant manner.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to...

  • Identify and list at least three types of abuse or neglect that require reporting under California law.

  • Identify the different time requirements for making a report based on the population and type of abuse/neglect. 

  • Identify and describe at least five specific risk factors that could indicate potential abuse or neglect in clients.

  • Identify at least 3 steps to ensure “duty to warn” has been completed.

Lindsay Dozier is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Oregon, currently practicing at SoCal Individual, Family, & Trauma Therapy. She specializes in trauma and PTSD, adjustment disorders, the psychological impact of chronic illness, and support for first responders. Lindsay is certified in EMDR and serves as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in Training. In her practice, she integrates a parts perspective along with neurobiological and somatic approaches. Lindsay is a strong advocate for the healing potential of human-animal relationships. With over a decade of clinical experience, she is dedicated to enriching the therapeutic journey, fostering a transformative connection that extends beyond the client-therapist dynamic.

Refunds & Cancellation Policy:

All refund requests must be submitted in writing and received no later than 5 business days before the event. Refunds will be processed within 3-5 days of receiving the written request. A $25 administrative fee will be applied to cancellations of paid events made before the cancellation deadline. Refund requests received after the deadline will not be honored. SoCal Individual, Family, & Trauma Therapy reserves the right to grant refunds outside of this policy at its discretion. In the event the speaker is unable to present due to an emergency, SoCal Individual, Family, & Trauma Therapy will issue a full refund to all participants and notify them via email.

CE Credits:

Course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. CE Completion certificates will be awarded at the end of the course in exchange for a completed evaluation form. SoCal Individual, Family, & Trauma Therapy (Provider #1032784) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. SoCal Individual, Family, & Trauma Therapy maintains responsibility for the program/course and all its content.

Certificate of Completion:

Certificates of Completion will be provided once payment is made in full and all course requirements are completed. Please make sure to sign in and out, as this allows us to email your certificate to you after the course.
