EMDR ACCELERATED INTENSIVES
Accelerated Healing For Trauma
WHAT IS EMDR ACCELERATED INTENSIVE THERAPY?
EMDR Intensives provide a focused and immersive approach to healing. With three-hour sessions, you have the time to really dive into the work without the frequent stopping and starting of weekly therapy.
Often in shorter sessions, just as you start to feel things are processing, it's time to wrap up. EMDR Intensive Therapy gives you the space to stay in that flow, helping you move through your healing journey more quickly and deeply.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
During the Intensive, we will do two things:

-
Help the things that have hurt you to hurt less.
-
Make the things that make you feel good or powerful feel even stronger.
An EMDR Intensive Includes:
1) Complimentary 45 min Consultation
This initial consultation helps lay the foundation for your personalized experience. Together, we’ll clarify your therapeutic goals, assess appropriateness for EMDR Accelerated Intensive, as well as evaluate your coping strategies, and pinpoint the areas that need focused healing. By the end of the call, we will be able to assess what length of intensives may be appropriate for your goals.
2) Personalized Treatment Workbook
Once you've booked your EMDR Intensive, you will receive a Personalized Treatment Workbook. This will be filled with customized assessments and activities to prepare you for your Intensive. It allows you to track your progress on treatment goals before, during, and after our sessions, while helping me tailor my support to your unique needs.
3) Customized Trauma Processing Session
In your customized sessions, we’ll process your traumatic experiences and address symptoms to help you make meaningful progress. This approach integrates EMDR with other effective trauma modalities, creating a comprehensive and personalized experience. We also incorporate movement, grounding, and breathing exercises to keep you supported and present throughout the process. These sessions are typically 3-4 hours in length.
4) Post-Intensive Session
In this reflective session, we’ll talk about the shifts you’ve experienced, focus on the most meaningful takeaways, and work together to find ways to weave your new growth into your everyday life. Depending on your treatment goals, we’ll also assess together whether more processing intensives or transitioning to weekly or biweekly sessions would best support your continued progress.

Common Concerns About EMDR Intensives…
What makes EMDR Intensives different from traditional therapy?
EMDR Intensives are designed to help you make progress faster. Instead of weekly sessions, you’ll spend 3-4 hours in focused sessions that allow for deeper processing and symptom relief. Research has shown that intensive therapy can achieve the same results as months of weekly therapy, but in a shorter time (Ehlers et al., 2014).
Are EMDR Intensives worth the time and money?
EMDR Intensives give you the results you would get from months of therapy in a much shorter period of time. If you add up the cost of weekly therapy, an EMDR Intensive is actually more cost effective. Instead of waiting months, you can get the same results in a few days.
What does the research say about EMDR Intensives with Complex PTSD?
For individuals with Complex PTSD, research indicates that EMDR Intensives can be both safe and effective (Bongaerts et al., 2017). Additionally, studies show that EMDR therapy is well-tolerated by patients with PTSD and leads to significant symptom reduction following intensive treatment (Zepeda Méndez et al., 2018).
Will I need more sessions after my Intensive?
It depends on your treatment goals. During our reflective session, we’ll talk about what feels right for you—whether that’s another intensive or moving to weekly/biweekly sessions to maintain your progress.
Can I attend EMDR Intensives virtually?
Yes! We offer virtual sessions for residents of CA and OR, and in-person sessions at our Irvine, CA office. Virtual sessions have been proven just as effective as in-person processing.
Do you take insurance?
We’re out-of-network, but we’re happy to provide you with a superbill, so you can submit it to your insurance for possible reimbursement. We also offer a financing option through CareCredit to make payments more flexible. For more information about financing options and insurance click below.
